Chelsea Legend Reveals How Chelsea Surprised Him Under New Boss

Chelsea Legend Reveals How Chelsea Have Surprised Him Under New Manager

Frank Lampard admits that he predicted that Chelsea would finish in the top four but not challenge for the title.

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has admitted that he did not actually envisage Chelsea challenging for the Premier League title this current campaign.

Chelsea finished in the tenth position last season less than 12 months after Jose Mourinho led the Stamford Bridge club to the Premier League crown in 2014-15.

Former Juventus coach Antonio Conte was appointed as Guus Hiddink’s replacement after Hiddink came in as Mourinho’s interim successor during last term.

The Italian manager signed five players in the last summer transfer window before the blues won their opening three Premier League games.

The west London club failed to win a top-flight fixture in September following defeats by the duo of Liverpool and Arsenal before Chelsea went on a 13-game winning run.

As things stands now, Chelsea are seven points clear at the top of the League table following a run of one loss in 20 games in the top flight.

And Lampard speaking to London Evening Standard about Chelsea’s season ahead of their next premier league game against West Ham United on Monday said he did not expect them to go so far clear and that is credit to the club.

Chelsea also gear up to play Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
