Conte Makes Claim About Chelsea Under Jose Mourinho

Chelsea current coach Antonio Conte has insisted that Chelsea were like an “ugly duckling” when Jose Mourinho was still boss at the club, and that the club have now transformed into a “swan”.

The Stamford Bridge club endured a quite difficult season last term as they struggled to find consistent form in the English Premier League and ended up in 10th place in the table.
It led to Mourinho’s sacking in December 2015 which was just months after the Portuguese coach had led the club to a Premier League and League Cup double.

Then Antonio Conte was appointed as Chelsea’s manager last summer and the Italian boss has had an instant impact at Stamford Bridge.

The Stamford Bridge club are flying high at the top of the Premier League table currently and they are the heavy favourites to win the title this term.

Conte too has explained his take on how Chelsea’s fortunes have reversed under his tenure so far this term.

Conte speaking in an interview with Sky Italia said:

“Looking at last season, when Chelsea had practically the same players, you cannot immediately transform from ugly ducking into a swan.

“At the end of the day we found our balance. The blind faith in my ideas helped. I made some strong choices.”
