Chelsea Boss Sends message to Fans About Legend
Conte reveals that John Terry is still a big influence at the club despite his lack of playing time
Chelsea new Italian boss Antonio Conte has revealed that Chelsea legend John Terry has been “helping” him a lot during his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
The Chelsea captain made a rare start for his side on Saturday evening as he played the full 90 minutes and helped the blues beat Wolves 2-0 in the FA Cup.
The skipper helped the west London side to keep a clean sheet during the game as Chelsea set up a quarter-final showdown with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge next month.
Terry has found his first team opportunities at Chelsea few and far between this current campaign following former Juventus manager Conte’s appointment last summer.
However, Conte insists that the 35-year-old is still playing a big role at the club as his side chase a Premier League and FA Cup double in Conte’s first campaign in charge.
Conte speaking to Chelsea’s website attested to the fact that John Terry deserved to play in the game against Wolves, and stated that he is happy for the veteran defender who played very well.
He also stated that Terry is a very important player who is important on and off the pitch and he is very happy to have him (Terry) in his squad.
Chelsea will play Swansea City in the Premier League this weekend.
