Chelsea Management Now Did The Right Thing- They Now Have A Jewel At Hand

One problem many Chelsea fans seem to have with the Chelsea management is the lack of local homegrown talents being promoted from the academy into the first team squad. Apart from John Terry who rose from the academy and got a place in the first team, no other Chelsea academy player has achieved same feat. Among football clubs in England, Chelsea Academy is regarded as one of the best.

In recent times, they have won honours such as the U21 and UEFA Youth League in 2014. The Chelsea Academy Stars also won the FA Youth Cup in 2012, 2014, and 2015.However, presently, 20 year old Ruben Loftus-Cheek is being projected as the future of Chelsea. Ruben joined the academy at age 8. He grew rapidly and made his debut for the U21s in the 2012-13 season. He made 24 appearances in the following season, and was a part of the winning team of the U21 League and UEFA Youth League.

His impressive performances in the next season earned him a call into the first team squad. The talented youngster made his debut for Chelsea in a Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon in 2014. He also made his first league start against Liverpool in May 2015, where he played for 60 minutes with an impressive 100% passing accuracy. His impressive performances were noticeable, as he got his first call up to the England International U21 side in 2015 for the Euros, making the U21 boss Gareth Southgate speak very highly of him.

This season, Ruben has made nine appearances for the blues, scoring one goal in a FA cup game against Scunthorpe. He can be described as a player who has Mourinho's attributes. He is tall, strong, and powerful- a replica of Yaya Toure. His right foot is his favoured one, but he is also good with the left.Ruben Loftus-Cheek has signed a new contract this week, dedicating him to the blues till 2021. He is said to be earning €60,000 each week. And after legend John Terry, he is the only player who has completed ten years at Chelsea. Ruben has shown to all that with a nice playing time, he will become a regular player both for his club and in his country's squad.

If this youngster is groomed properly, we can rightly say that Chelsea now have a jewel at hand.
